Summary: Works, but wouldn't recommend 2007-12-07
Comment: I originally bought it for my car, and found that the sound quality was pretty lame. Most of the fault wasn't on the product since I couldn't find a clear enough station but the 1 or 2 I did find, it was still pretty bad.
When left on top of a stereo it works pretty well but it's not for purpose I bought it for.

Summary: Garbage. 2007-11-03
Comment: This FM transmitter is horrible.
It doesn't fit the bottom of the iPod well and falls off breaking the connection. It's also twice as thick (making it hard to put down on a flat surface when connected).
The audio output level is horrible, and since it's connected to the dock, the volume on the iPod doesn't seem to matter. Putting the transmitter on the dash just inches from the antenna (through the windshield) didn't make any difference.

Summary: Nearly 4000 Miles With The XtremeMac AirPlay Boost FM Transmitter 2007-09-04
Comment: I purchased the XtremMac AirPlay Boost transmitter for use on a 3700+-mile (rountrip) excursion in a rental van. I chose it because I was so pleased with the performance of the smaller AirPlay model I used on the same trip, the previous year. I used the smaller one with my 2nd generation iPod -- the one with four buttons. I no longer have that iPod, but now use a 5th generation (video) model.
Along the same route from Texas to Reno, Nevada, the AirPlay Boost was more "staticy". We also had to switch radio stations more often. Most annoying was the ill fit of the Airplay Boost to my iPod. It seemed to fall off at every bump in the road.
I vowed to return it as soon as we got back. But a friend needed a transmitter to play his Video iPod in a new vehicle (with a radio without an Ipod or MP3 connection). I gave the Airplay Boost to him.
I haven't had the chance to ask the friend if it fits better with his player or if the local performance is decent. Maybe I'll update this review upon doing so.
But as for my experience with the AirPlay Boost, it was unacceptable for use.

Summary: It's a winner 2007-07-15
Comment: I bought this for my husband for father's day. He drives from FL to NC about two times a month. He said it worked perfectly and he never lost the signal.
Finally something he did not have to return!
