5.0 out of 5 stars best transmitter around, February 6, 2007

A good FM transmitter is certainly hard to come by. In general none are actually good; it usually comes down to finding the lesser of too evils. I previously had the original Airplay by XtremeMac. I liked that transmitter a lot although there were some problems. When I got my new 80 gig iPod, i needed to get a new transmitter and --after a lot of research-- decided on this one.
Simply stated, this transmitter is ingenious, the best out there. The signal strength is amazing (and far surpasses the old one), I've actually gotten a clear sound standing over 35 away from the receiver. The Airply Boost actually over-powered my friend's iTrip (when we put them on the same station) and his was closer to the receiver.
The on-screen display with the controls is really easy to use and has some useful features that other transmitters do not (like the mono/stereo option). The fact that it is on the screen means that the Airplay Boost does not waste the battery unnecessarily...Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars A Pleasant Surprise, February 18, 2007
This review is from: XtremeMac IPV-APV-10 AirPlay Boost FM Transmitter for iPod Video (Black) (Electronics)
After reading endless rants about how terrible FM transmitters were and that anything other than a line-in solution would be a sacrilege, I had low expectations for the Airplay Boost. After a recent 4 hour car ride, I could not be more pleased.

Pros: The biggest plus for this transmitter over many others is its ability to transmit on 87.9FM. In nearly every place in the United States, this frequency is completely unused, leading to nearly crystal clear transmitting to my radio. For only about 5 minutes of the entire 4 hour journey was static present, quite impressive. Also, since the Airplay Boost has a pass through connector for a charger, plugging the iPod into car power only boosts (no pun intended) the transmission intensity and strength. A side note: I have seen multiple complaints about the Airplay Boost's low transmission volume. These complaints are not unfounded as I had to turn my radio up farther than usual for listening. However, this did not affect the...Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Why does it only display even-numbered radio stations?, May 25, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: XtremeMac IPV-APV-10 AirPlay Boost FM Transmitter for iPod Video (Black) (Electronics)
I bought two of these...one works great, but the other did not. It would only display even numbered radio stations to connect with and the car only has odd numbered radio stations. I returned it and ordered a new one and the replacement one is the same way! Very frustrating!!
