Product Description
Airplay Boost streams your music over any FM frequency. By tuning AirPlay Boost and an FM stereo to the same open frequency, you get an instant, wireless connection. Making that signal as strong as possible is AirPlay Boost's external antenna. This design element significantly increases how clear the transmission is. Using Airplay Boost couldn't be easier. Three easy-access buttons right on the front of the sleek aluminum case make controlling the unit a snap. Tuning, settings and all controls are displayed on your iPod nano screen. Airplay Boost lets you use the entire permissible FM range. You can save and jump to the best ones with Airplay Boost's three pre-set frequencies. Since broadcast radio varies from city to city, XtremeMac includes a Stereo/Mono setting to let you find the clearest signals. Every part of Airplay Boost was designed to be easy. You get a wireless stream immediately without any installation, software or even batteries. There's also a special pass-through connection. With it, you can charge you

Summary: AirPlay Boost 2009-07-12
Comment: This is the best trnsmitter on the market. The only one that will work most of the time because it will transmit on 87.9. Most others will not go that low, so there is too much interference. Too bad they are hard to find. They must have stopped making them for some reason.

Summary: I wouldn't recommend this product. 2008-02-27
Comment: This product gives you more static that anything else. It doesn't give you a lot of FM channels to choose from, but when you have it on the channel that has no frequency, you hear the static more than the music from your IPOD.

Summary: Just OKAY 2008-01-02
Comment: I might have been impressed with this if I had not first used the Griffin iTrip (that plugged into the top of my old iPod). I purchased this to go with my new iPod Classic because my old iTrip couldn't be used with the new one. I decided on this one because I can use it while I'm charging the iPod (using the A/C charger). With the antenna on the side it does not plug into my Bose docking station (even with the insert for the Bose removed). It seems you need to keep the iPod pretty close to the radio for good reception. I wish they made iTrips like the old ones that plug into the top for the new Classic iPods!!!!!!!

Summary: Easy install and works great 2007-12-18
Comment: Worked right out of the box. Signal is short-range as some others have mentioned, but the unit works fine for me. I sit it on my stereo or on the seat of my car.

Summary: Good Style, poor performance, LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE 2007-03-22
Comment: To start with the AirPlay Boost has a nice design and good functionality, and this is the only reason it gets 2 stars. The unit I received is defective. It works but the volume level is only about half what it should be. In other words, compared to radio stations I have to turn the volume up on my radio over twice as high to hear the AirPlay at the same level. Also the transmitter power is no better that my first generation iTrip.

So I contacted XtremMac's techsupport. I was informed they would replace the unit, no questions. They would mail out a replacement unit with pre-paid return shipping for the defective one. Sounded fine to me, I've done this many times in my line of work. TWO WEEKS later still nothing in the mail. I contact techsupport back to find out what is up. It isn't until then I am informed that the replacement is coming from OVERSEAS and would take 3-6 weeks from the time it was shipped. It was shipped ONE WEEK after I contacted techsupport. So at best I could see the replacement a full month after contacting techsupport the first time. This is by far the WORST warrantee service I have every received.

Bottom line, there are plenty of other FM transmitters for the iPod. Do yourself a favor and buy one of them instead. I should have stuck with iTrip. My iTrip for my G3 iPod still works perfectly. lessons learned.
