Summary: Best Transmitter around 2009-08-07
Comment: I have had many FM transmitters, and I mean MANY. There is a definate difference between different brands. I just replaced a belkin with this Xtrememac. Out of all the ones I've had, this one sounds the best by FAR. I don't know what other people are complaining about. It's not going to sound perfect. Seriously. It's over the radio. But if this is the route you have to go because of configuration and cost of hard wiring, this is it. The biggest suggestion I have is to take the external antenna off your car. This hugely reduces ambient noise and conflict from other radio stations. I noticed for me, that the typical 88.1-88.9 stations that most people use suck for me. I live in a pretty urban area, and 93.5 sounds great. I can drive for an hour without having to change the station. So for the day to day, it sounds good. Just make sure to do the antenna thing, and spent 10 minutes the first time and search your entire FM dial, both looking for empty frequencies and testing them before finding a station to use. If you settle for a so-so one that you have to keep changing, you'll probably end up throwing your iPod out the window.

Summary: Do not buy 2009-07-21
Comment: The new 2009 version of this transmitter is worthless. It no longer has the capability of broadcasting at 87.9 and the power is so low on it that there is no station you can actually set it to in which it will work. Every station even in remote areas will be saturated with static. Save your money.

Summary: Awful...not even worth a one star rating! 2009-07-07
Comment: This piece of crap emits a heavy dose of static during a song, in-between songs, and when no song is playing. This product should be discontinued. Yes it's that bad!!!

Summary: Awful- not worth it if free... 2009-06-04
Comment: This review pertains to the version currently available (June 2009). It has an extremely weak signal- even on unoccupied stations in rural areas, there is heavy static. I would not take this again if it were free.

Summary: Bad Reception 2009-06-02
Comment: I got very bad reception with this unit, just like the cheap Griffin unit I had tried earlier. Also, it did NOT have the 87.9 frequency, which was one of the main reasons I bought it.
