Be it ease of use, excessive static or simply poor construction they all suffered from deficiencies that rendered them unusable. With the AirPlay Boost however I have been very satisfied with its performance. The default frequency (87.9 MHz) was fine for my area (Tampa, a big but sprawling metropolitan area). My primary use will be in my car and for that scenario it worked well. There was static discernible but I would go so far as to say that it was less than most radio stations. I live in the Point Loma area of San Diego, CA. At first I started at the lower band end static filled stations and the boost worked horribly/not at all. Now this was in a neighborhood that has a huge amount of military electronics, anyway then tried a static station at the upper band (104.5) and works great. Yes, on a few songs where there are moments of silence, I get a smidge of background noise but oh well for $20 including shipping who cares! Have driven between the coast and mission valley (inland 10 miles) and same station works great. Only been in use for a few days, but I am sold at this point. By This review is from: XtremeMac Airplay Boost FM Transmitter for iPod nano 2G (Black) (Electronics) This signal produced by this transmitter was too weak to produce quality sound. I had experienced better quality from an off-brand transmitter that used two AAA batteries. I am now using a Monster Mobile RadioPlay 300 and am thrilled with it. |
