First, the USB cord. I fully expect the retraction mechanism to fail at some point, but for now, it works fine. You plug it into your computer or into either the AC or DC adapter. Second, the AC converter works with no problem. Third, the 12VDC converter doesn't seem to be able to provide enough power to recharge the unit. I use it on airplanes, and if you plug it in to keep a fully charged ipod at full charge, it works. If you let the ipod get down to about half power or so and then plug it in, after a few seconds the ipod will announce that unit trying to charge it isn't compatible and charging will cease.
