I just bought a new 2010 Honda Odyssey and wanted to attach my iPhone to the car stereo. In the past, I've used FM transmitters, cassette adapters, and stereo to aux input jacks. Usually, your vehicle dictates what solution you choose. I'm happy to say, there's a 4th solution that's better than all the solutions I've tried in the past on my previous cars.
My Honda Odyssey has a cigarette lighter and aux input jack next to each other, near the floor between the two front seats. It's a great location for the jacks, next to each other. And I'm not a fan of multiple cords dangling all over the car, as they get in the way of cup holders, trays, and buttons. So if there's a solution that minimizes or eliminates cords, that's right up my alley.
Well, this Monster iCarCharger 1000 seemed like the perfect solution. It has only 1 cord from my iPhone 3G, it connects to my iPhone car mount, it has a nice cable management system that dramatically shortens the cord for...Read more

I purchased the Monster iCarCharger 1000 from the Apple Store a few weeks ago and experienced the same distortion problem mentioned by other reviewers. I was all set to write a blistering review.
But first I experimented a bit, and noticed that the signal from my iPhone 3GS was too "hot" (distorted) when set in iPod mode, but worked OK with Internet apps like Pandora or NPR. I then made two changes in my "iPod" settings on the iPhone: I turned Sound Check "ON" and set EQ to "FLAT". With these changes, the sound quality in iPod mode is acceptable, with slight distortion only on the few of my songs with very high output levels. (Output levels are adjustable in iTunes, for those so inclined.)
I'm generally enjoying the unit now. The cord management system is good, and I think the best feature is the "tactile" playback controls that eliminate the need to wrestle with the iPhone touch screen while driving.
Still, it's disappointing that QC at Monster...Read more

I am not quite sure what the other reviewers were doing with their iPhones or iPods but the sound quality coming out of this device is amazing. I plugged it into my car's aux jack and was immediately blown away. I don't have the equalizer or the Sound Check setting turned on and the stereo is set to a flat EQ and the sound quality is very high.
Having cable management integrated into the device is a nice touch. I put other things in the center console, so it's great to not have to deal with more than 1 cord in there.
Build quality could use a little bit of improvement. It's not horrible but trying to get the power plug to fit in to the socket when it's deep in a center console is a bit tough when it keeps wanting to pivot or release the cord management lock.
All-in-all, a decent product for a decent price. I would recommend this to others. Actually, I think I'm going to buy another one for my dad's upcoming birthday.
