Summary: Frustrating to use 2010-04-01
Comment: Currently calling this gadget the "iLuv" is just too ironic. I hate it.

For some reason when it can't find a clear signal; for example when passing through a town and it encounters some interference; it will reset both of the saved frequencies! What is the point of being able to save a frequency if this thing can just reset them? Crazy. The result is that I can't use this if I'm driving on my own - which is most of the time.

Highly recommend that that you get something else.

Comment: I bought this because one of my cars does not have a cassette player which I use to play my ipod in my other car. Setting up of this unit is quite easy and it looks pretty high tech when installed. That ends the pros on this for me. It boils down to sound quality and I think this is pretty poor. It requires you turn your sound up higher than normal to get good volume push and overall the sound is very dull. Be careful when you switch back to radio or CD because you will blare yourself out of the car! Secondly, depending on how far away your adapter is in your car, it can be difficult to read the display on your ipod and takes your eyes from the road. I am not suggesting that you not buy this product, just don't expect anything amazing (and if you do have a tape player and value sound quality over ease of use, by all means get the tape adapter)

Comment: OK, I didn't fully read the description that states this product doesn't fit the iPod nano 3rd generation. However, I placed some padding inside the adapter which allowed the nano to fit snuggly. As a disclaimer, I doubt this is a recommended practice.

That being said, this product transmits on the FM frequency of your choice, resulting in excellent sound quality. Also, this adapter can be assembled is disassembled within seconds, even on the first time using the device.

A word of warning - even though I unplugged the adapter from the power outlet, the adapter continues to transmit. I'm sure this action will quickly charge down your nano battery. Just be sure to remove the nano from the adapter when you're done.

Summary: Works well - learned from other's mistakes 2008-09-08
Comment: We used the transmitter for a road trip from New Hampshire to Atlanta. Pros: Tunes the whole band. That's very important if you are traveling, as you will find the "white space" (where there is no signal, so you can slip in the iPod signal) will move. Charges *and* plays at the same time. Easy to use.
Cons: This was not an issue for us as we had the unit in a Mitsubishi Gallant, which has a lot of choices for power outlets, but you may have a problem with the articulated boom from the power adapter to the holder. Make sure it will fit and articulate they way you need it, e.g., not into the shifter, in your car.

Summary: Amazing Device 2008-08-15
Comment: This is the first time I bought a device like this and let me say it worked marvelously.

I took a road trip from Phoenix, AZ to Washington, DC and seeing how way more of my music is on an iPod than actual CDs I decided to invest in a FM transmitter. I was a bit nervous buying one with such little amounts of feedback but I do not regret this purchase at all.

First of all let me say that the signal is excellent, the sound quality just as good. A bit of advice for first time users, if you listen to slower/lighter music you may want to keep the backlight of the iPod on as it will eliminate any static that may occur. Secondly, I reccomend choosing stations that are within .2 of any working radio station. For instance, when I was driving through Tennessee the closest working radio station was 92.3 so I set my iLuv to 92.5 and the signal was great. I noticed that if you find a desolate signal with a lot of static, that static will carry over into your sound.

The only problems I had were with podcasts and slower songs. I have deducted the cause being the sound, as my harder music rarely cut out. Podcasts were the most frustrating as they would constantly lose signal with this device, and it was less with my softer music though still apparent as I would not be mentioning it if not. There were instances where the signal cut out completely, but they are so far and in between it's hardly worth mentioning. Plus a quick tap of the button restores signal instantaneously.

The memory buttons come in handy now that I am in DC, there are many radio stations here so finding a good signal was tough but not impossible. Otherwise I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for an FM transmitter, I drove roughly 2,000 miles and this thing made every mile bearable. I honestly do not know what I would've done without it.

Well, except for use CDs of course but what am I a caveman?
