When the product first arrived, it looked like just a collection of wires. I wasn't terribly impressed.
But after hooking it all up (I did have to provide the USB plug) It seems to work very well.
The best thing I can say about it is that I haven't noticed any discernible loss of audio quality. The sounds that comes through the speakers is just as good as a 1/8" stereo plug.
What else I liked:
The audio was fine. The other person could tell that I was on speaker, but it wasn't terrible. I can definitely see where the hands free works well.
I love having the usb plug directly in the cigarette lighter plug. If the rest of the contraption falls apart, then I can clip the wires and still use this as a backup, car-usb charger. It would have been a lot less useful if they made this yet another wire protruding.
What I don't like:
The magnetic base sticks on the windshield (or where you can put it) permanently and...Read more

Hands-free phone calls and music, but an octopus in the wiring department.,

I've been able to count on Belkin products in the past and liked the idea of its AirCast Connect/Hands-Free vehicle audio transmitter. It actually frees you up to do a couple of things without having to take your hands off the wheel.
It enables both hands-free conversation on your iPhone (or other smart phone) and the playing of music from your phone, including streaming, through your car speakers. And it has voice recognition.
It does what it promises, but here's what you need to know:
First of all, you require a car audio system with an aux jack. No jack, no use. Secondly, because this isn't Bluetooth, you've got a mess of wires--one that plugs into your aux jack, one that plugs into your phone, one that plugs into your car's power jack and finally, one attached to the stick-on mic. If you happen to also have your phone plugged in, or a stand-alone GPS device, that's a lot of wiring.
And, finally, while the sound quality isn't...Read more

Wire hassle and poor audio quality,

First things first, the audio quality of this transmitter very poor. When connected to the car stereo via aux port, and car audio volume level at pretty high, it sounds that the voice on the other side of call is coming from very far away. This is really unacceptable, especially with a wired connection.
Connections: If you are using this device, be prepared to run two sets of wires in your car and they both will be sort of hanging out, if you follow Belkin's directions. If you fix the receptor on your dashboard, its wire will be going through your dashboard, gear area and all the way into the compartment to the right of driver's seat. This wire definitely comes in the way of normal driving operation.
Make sure your car has an aux port and your phone has a headphone jack. This will be the second wire hanging out from the compartment.
You will also use one of the car's battery charger port.
Overall, it is too much resource utilization.
