These retractable cables can be riddled with problems--from the "take-up" mechanism to the flimsiness of the cable itself to either of the pins being the least bit off center, resulting in static, or a missing stereo channel, or lost sound altogether. Nevertheless, and in spite of the minimal price (which included tax and postage), the cable has worked perfectly and instantly (no fiddling with the pin required--just pop it in and forget it) in connecting an iPod to a portable stereo speaker and in hooking up a radio tuner with a large speaker. I'm happy, especially after spending 3 times as much on a 6-foot audio cable that required constant, delicate adjustments, followed by breath-holding and frozen movement in order to, first, elicit a listenable sound and, 2nd, to maintain it.

I use this to hook up my iPhone to my Makita job radio. The retractable feature is why I bought it. I can take my phone and move the radio without a cable swinging or dragging along. For the price, I'd buy two just to have a spare.

I use this in my BMW to connect in the mic jack in the center console. I love how it retracts when not in use and can go right back in. You can not beat the price on this!
