The iphone 3g replacement black dock connector with pcb arrived quickly and as described. The replacement had the same pcb number (821-0551-a) and was fully compatible with my Apple 8GB Iphone 3G. This replacement part fixed my sync/charging issue but I had reason to suspect a connector issue. No instructions were included but they may be found on several different websites.
Research how to perform the repair before attempting it yourself.

* soldering iron
* x-acto knife or similar
* quality tweezers or dental pick
