CD-R: Quality Media Storage CD-R is a Write-Once format with a storage lifetime that's intended for sharing music, organizing your media library, or archiving important business or personal data.
UCD-Rs are compatible with most standard CD readers, which means that after you burn your favorite tunes to a CD-R, you can play them back on most home or car stereos.
With 700MB of space on each disk, you can store up to 80 minutes of standard audio, 150 songs in mp3 format, or up to 350 photos (this number varies widely depending on file format and size).
52X Write Speed: Quick and Convenient AmazonBasics CD-R disks enable fast write speeds up to 52X (burn speed will fluctuate) for quick, clean data transfer. (To take full advantage of these speeds, your CD burner must burn at speeds of at least 52X. Consult your computer or CD burner product manual for this information.)
At 52X, transfer speed translates up to 7.8 MB/s, which means that you can burn a full disk in a minute and a half. Plus, quality construction minimizes errors and improves performance.

There isn't a whole lot you can say about a particular brand of DVD+R media. If it works and there are no unusual issues, one is pretty much the same as another.
That said, there are two things that will keep me buying the AmazonBasics DVDs. One is the price....the price is lower than other brands, and still a similar price even when the other brands are on sale. Factor in Amazon free shipping and sales tax considerations and their price is excellent.
The other reason I like these is the shipping. The double boxing and packing ensured the media got to me safely.
As far as performance, that is driven mostly by your PC hardware and burner. I have used about 30 of these so far to store general data, photos, video, etc. and have not had any issues. I have used some other brands (Sony) where I have run into the occasional bad DVD right out of the box.

I tested these CD-R's on an iMac running OS X 10.5.8 with an external LaCie DVD/CD burner containing TSST guts. The burner is connected to the iMac via FireWire.
I did not encounter any problems using the CD-R's. My burner was able to write to them at high speeds. The burnt discs were readable by other devices without any hassles. A minor quibble, though, is that the discs themselves seem to be more flexible and lighter in weight than the CD-R's I normally use (Verbatim and TDK). Another, more personal, quibble is that the discs have a glossy finish on the label side. I prefer a matte finish because the CD marker pens I use don't work terribly well on slick surfaces.
For this product, the Frustration-Free Packaging isn't a big deal. The discs come on the usual spindle with a plastic, lockable cover. I have had 100% success burning both data and video formats with this media at 4X using:
Sony Optiarc AD-7170A (firmware version 1.O4 supports this media at 4X, 6X, 8X, 12X, 16X)
Plextor PX-708A (firmware 1.11 supports this media at 2.4X, 4X, 8X)
LG GSA-T11N (firmware A104 supports this media at 4X only but can do 8X with other comparable media)
NEC ND-3500AG (firmware 2.TB supports this media at 2.4X, 4X but can do 8X with other comparable media)
As you can see, some of my older drives won't support faster than 4X with this media. I'm a little surprised that my oldest (the Plextor) would support 8X, but I haven't bothered to try anything faster than 4X on any drive because I'm rarely in that much of a hurry.
My burns are generally more than 90% of disc capacity so I am almost always using most of the recordable surface. My success criteria is not just an error-free burn; I have verified several discs by reading them at max speed (on a...Read more
